To add insult to injury, the opponent wasn't content with winning the auction by default, but decided to conduct a smear campaign that penalized me with -60 faction points on the confederate side, locking me out of most of their cities. So I paid their crappy bribes, leaving me without enough money to effectively compete in the auction. Fighting inevitably damages your train, can kill your hired hands, lose you cargo or even whole train cars, and drop your faction ratings even though they started it. On my way there I was attacked 3 times by native american ambushes, despite a positive faction rating, with the choice to fight or pay a bribe. There is an auction I am required to win within a limited time frame to progress. There are "random" events that can impact your entire game experience negatively that can come one after the other, and your "opponent" can entirely ruin your game after days of playing, to the point of no possible way to recover, just because he feels like it, and there isn't a thing you can do about it short of reloading a previous manual save, and even then there is a high probability he will just do it again.Įxamples: Late game and I have a positive faction rating with native americans, the union side, the confederate side, and the bandits. What it also has is an AI that is a sadistic prick, and some potentially game breaking bugs. The game has a lot of potentially cool elements. I played this game for 35+ hours so far, because I'm not one to play something. I'm going to make this simple, followed by a longer explanation.
